Executive Leader template filled with a fictional example CV

Layout

A single column that mixes a serif face for the name, section headings and job titles with a sans-serif face for body text and contact details. The header is centred: an uppercase name in your colour, an italic headline and contact items divided by dots, closed by a thick coloured rule. Each section heading is in bold capitals over a thin coloured rule. Company and dates appear in small semi-bold sans-serif.

How ATS software reads it

Font choice does not change how a parser reads a PDF; it reads the text layer, which is real text here. The single-column structure and standard headings keep the reading order simple. The mix of serif and sans-serif is purely visual. The only thing to watch is consistency in how you write job titles and dates, since a senior CV often has many roles and parsers rely on regular patterns to separate them.

Best for

  • Directors, heads of department and C-level applicants
  • Senior managers with ten or more years of experience
  • Board, trustee and non-executive roles
  • Executive search and headhunter submissions

If you are early in your career, the formal serif headings and authoritative tone can feel out of proportion to the content, so a lighter template is more fitting.

Tips for this template

  • Open with a summary of three or four lines that names your scale, such as team size, budget or revenue.
  • Group early-career roles into one short entry so the page focuses on the last ten to fifteen years.
  • Use Certifications for board or professional qualifications, which sit well under the formal serif headings.
