Two-Tone Header template filled with a fictional example CV

Layout

The header is split in two: a wider block of solid colour on the left holds your name in white with the headline beneath, and a lighter grey block on the right lists contact details one per line, each prefixed with a label such as Email or Phone. Below the header the body is a single sans-serif column. Each section heading is in capitals with a short coloured underline that fits the heading's width.

How ATS software reads it

Only the header is split; experience, education and skills are in one column. The name block comes first in the text order and the contact block second, so most parsers read your name before your details. The labels in front of each contact item, such as Phone, are real text and may help some parsers identify the fields. White text on a colour background is still ordinary text in the PDF and is not lost.

Best for

  • Sales, business development and account management
  • Candidates who want a bold first impression
  • Start-ups and modern companies
  • Speculative applications sent by email

If you plan to use a pale accent colour or need a header that prints well in greyscale, choose a template where the name is not set in white on a colour block.

Tips for this template

  • Use a dark colour; your name is printed in white on it, so light colours make the name hard to read.
  • Keep your headline short so the colour block stays compact and balanced with the contact panel.
  • Since contact items are labelled, enter just the value in each field, for example the number alone rather than writing Phone again.
