Minimalist Underline template filled with a fictional example CV

Layout

A left-aligned single column in sans-serif. The header has a semi-bold name in your colour, a grey headline and contact items separated by dots, finished with a thick coloured rule. Section headings are small capitals in your colour with a fine coloured underline. Job titles are semi-bold and dark, and the company and dates line below each one is small and grey, keeping the hierarchy quiet.

How ATS software reads it

This layout has nothing that would confuse a parser: one column, headings as real text, and underlines drawn as borders rather than characters. The PDF export keeps everything as selectable text, so the system reads your words directly. Standard headings help it sort content into experience, education and skills. As with every template here, the colour you pick changes only the look, not how the content is read.

Best for

  • Consultants and analysts
  • Healthcare, education and social care professionals
  • Applicants who want a plain, modern look with a little colour
  • Second or third jobs where content matters more than design

If you want a CV with a stronger visual identity to stand out in a creative field, this deliberately restrained layout may be too understated.

Tips for this template

  • Since the headings are small, make the first words of each bullet carry weight, such as the result or the task.
  • Keep dates and company names consistent, as they appear in small grey text where inconsistency is easy to miss.
  • Use bold sparingly in your own text; the template already uses weight to separate titles from details.
