Tech Savvy template filled with a fictional example CV

Layout

A left-aligned, single-column layout in sans-serif. The name is large, extra-bold and tightly spaced in your colour, with the headline in semi-bold grey and contact details on one line divided by vertical bars. Section headings are small coloured capitals. The content of every section is indented and sits against a thin vertical line in your accent colour, which gives each block a clear left edge.

How ATS software reads it

Despite the accent lines, this is a single-column layout and the text follows one simple reading order. The vertical bars beside each section are drawn borders, not characters, so they do not appear in the extracted text. Standard headings such as Skills and Work Experience are used, which matters because many systems look for those exact words. Because the exported PDF contains real text, tool names and programming languages remain searchable keywords.

Best for

  • Software developers and engineers
  • IT support, DevOps and systems roles
  • Technical candidates with project-heavy CVs
  • Bootcamp graduates moving into tech

If you are applying in a very traditional sector such as law or public administration, a centred serif or classic layout will feel more familiar to the reader.

Tips for this template

  • List languages and frameworks exactly as job adverts spell them, for example JavaScript and Node.js, so keyword searches match.
  • Use the Additional Information section for projects or a GitHub link and rename it to Projects.
  • Start each bullet with the result or system you built; the indented blocks make the first few words of each line stand out.
