Timeline Experience CV Template
Vertical dot-and-line experience timeline structure.
Layout
A single column with a centred header: a large name in your colour, the headline and a centred contact line separated by dots. Section headings are centred capitals. The summary comes first, then work experience and education run beside a vertical line in your colour, with a coloured dot marking each entry. Remaining sections, such as skills and certifications, follow beneath the timeline without the line.
How ATS software reads it
The timeline line and dots are drawn shapes, not text, so parsers ignore them and see a plain single-column sequence of jobs and degrees. Headings use standard names. One thing to know: the code fixes the order as summary, then experience and education, then everything else, so your custom section order is only partly applied. The PDF keeps real text, and centred headings do not cause parsing problems.
Best for
- Candidates with a steady, progressive career path
- Project managers and team leads showing growth over time
- People with several roles at one employer
- Applications where the order of your career is the main story
If you want skills or certifications near the top, or your history has gaps you would rather not emphasise, pick another template, because this one always places them after the timeline.
Tips for this template
- List roles in reverse order, newest first, so the line reads naturally from your current job downwards.
- Because skills always appear after the timeline, mention your key tools inside the job bullets as well.
- Keep each entry to three or four bullets so the dots stay evenly spaced and the timeline is easy to follow.
