Modern Minimalist template filled with a fictional example CV

Layout

The header splits into two sides: your name in your colour with the headline beneath on the left, and contact details stacked one per line and right-aligned on the right. A thick coloured rule runs under the whole header. Below that the body is a single sans-serif column. Section headings are coloured capitals with no underline, and the company and dates line under each role is small and italic.

How ATS software reads it

The body is a single column, so experience and education are read in a straightforward order. The only side-by-side area is the header, where the name block comes first in the underlying text and the contact details follow, so most parsers will pick up your name before your email. Stacked contact items, one per line, are generally easier for a parser to split into email, phone and location than a crowded single line.

Best for

  • Marketing, communications and project roles
  • Mid-career professionals who want a tidy, current look
  • Office and administrative jobs
  • CVs with a short contact block of three or four items

If you have long contact details, such as a full portfolio URL plus several phone numbers, a centred or full-width contact line will handle them more cleanly than this narrow right-hand block.

Tips for this template

  • Keep each contact item short, since the right-hand block can only take up a bit under half the page width.
  • Section headings have no rule under them, so leave the default spacing alone; it is what separates the sections visually.
  • Write your dates in a consistent format such as 2021 - Present, because they sit in small italic text and mixed formats stand out.
