Layout

A classical single-column layout. The header is centred and framed by coloured rules above and below. Your name is in regular-weight serif capitals with wide letter spacing, in your colour, followed by the headline and an italic sans-serif contact line separated by long dashes. Section headings are centred capitals over a thin rule. Job titles stay in serif, while body text switches to sans-serif for easier reading.

How ATS software reads it

The centred header and headings are a visual choice and do not affect parsing, because the text order is still name, contact, then sections in sequence. The framing rules are borders with no text. Mixing serif and sans-serif faces makes no difference to applicant tracking systems, which read the real text in the PDF. Standard section names help the system match your content to the right fields.

Best for

  • Legal roles such as solicitor, paralegal or legal counsel
  • Finance, wealth management and private banking
  • Publishing, academia and the arts
  • Senior administrative and executive assistant roles

If you work in a fast-moving tech or start-up environment, the classical centred styling may look dated, so a left-aligned sans-serif template will match better.

Tips for this template

  • Use a deep colour such as burgundy or navy; the regular-weight name relies on colour for presence.
  • Keep the contact line to three or four items so it stays on one centred line between the rules.
  • Write bullets in full, formal sentences, which suit the classical styling better than clipped fragments.
