Customer Service Representative CV: Example and Guide

A customer service CV has one job: prove you can calm people down and fix their problem without being told how. Hiring managers for call centres, banks, airlines and e-commerce teams read hundreds of CVs that say "excellent communication skills". Very few show it. The ones that get calls name the channel they worked on (phone, chat, email, in person), the volume they handled and the result.

Most customer service roles are measured with numbers you already know from your shift reports: average handle time, first contact resolution, CSAT or quality scores, and tickets closed per day. Put those on your CV. If your team used Zendesk, Freshdesk, Salesforce Service Cloud or an in-house CRM, name it. Applicant tracking systems and recruiters both search for these tool names.

This guide covers what to put in each section, the keywords recruiters look for, and how to turn routine duty lines into achievements. There is a full sample CV at the end. It works for entry-level agents, experienced representatives and team leads moving up, whether you are applying in Pakistan, the Gulf or the UK.

  • Handled 40+ live chats a day across two concurrent windows for an online fashion store, with zero SLA breaches in the peak sale month.

Best section order

  1. Contact details and headline — Put the exact job title from the ad as your headline, such as Customer Service Representative or Customer Support Agent, so the ATS matches it.
  2. Professional summary — Three or four lines naming your channels, your volume and one quality number. This is what a recruiter reads in the first few seconds.
  3. Work experience — The most important section. Each role needs metrics like contacts per day, CSAT or FCR, not a list of duties.
  4. Skills — List CRM tools, channels and languages. Recruiters often filter by a tool name like Zendesk or by a language.
  5. Languages — Use the custom section for languages with a level (native, fluent, conversational). Many support roles hire specifically for a second language.
  6. Education and training — Keep it short unless you are new. Add short courses in customer service or communication if they are recent.

Certifications and licences worth listing

  • HDI Customer Service Representative (HDI-CSR)
  • CCXP – Certified Customer Experience Professional (CXPA), for experienced staff moving into CX roles
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) in Excel or Word, useful for back-office support roles

Common customer service representative CV mistakes

  • Writing "good communication skills" with no proof. Show it with a CSAT score, a quality audit result or a complaint you turned around.
  • Leaving out the channel. Phone, live chat, email and social media support are different jobs, and recruiters want to know which ones you have done.
  • Hiding your contact volume. A number like 70 calls a shift tells a hiring manager you can cope with a busy queue.
  • Forgetting languages. If you speak Arabic, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi or any other language a customer base uses, list it with your level.
  • Not mentioning shift flexibility when the ad asks for it. Many support roles run nights, weekends or rotating shifts, and saying you are available removes a doubt.

Applying in the Gulf, Pakistan or the UK

Pakistan

Many call centres in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad run international processes for US, UK or Australian clients. Name the market you served, say you are available for night shifts if true, and mention any accent or voice training you completed.

Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar)

Arabic is a strong plus for customer-facing roles, so state your level honestly. Gulf employers also expect your nationality, visa status and notice period near the top; the Gulf template has fields for these.

UK

Leave out your photo, date of birth and marital status. If the role needs it, state your right to work in the UK in one line rather than attaching documents.

Customer Service Representative CV questions

What should I put on a customer service CV with no experience?

Use any job where you dealt with the public: retail, restaurants, tutoring, a family shop or volunteering at events. Describe how many people you served and one problem you solved. Add your typing speed, the languages you speak and your shift availability, because these matter for entry-level support roles.

Which metrics should I include on a customer service CV?

Use the numbers your team actually tracked: CSAT, first contact resolution, average handle time, quality audit scores, or tickets closed per day. Only include figures you can explain in an interview. If you do not know the exact number, give a careful estimate such as "around 60 calls a shift".

How long should a customer service CV be?

One page is enough for most agents with under five years of experience. Team leads and supervisors with several roles can use two pages. Recruiters for high-volume hiring scan quickly, so keep each bullet to one or two lines.

Should I call it a CV or a resume?

In Pakistan, the UK and the Gulf, "CV" is the normal word. US companies and some international BPOs say "resume" for the same short document. The content is the same, so use whichever word the job ad uses.
